Mac filled out an employment application for the heck of it at the 7-11. Dubious Ahmed behind the counter looked on.

"Aw, man, I always date things wrong after the first of the year."

"It's OK, man," Ahmed said, anxious to get him out of there. Even if it was already June. Customers stood in line to check out. "I'll take care of it."

"Thanks, man. I really mean it. Appreciate it." Mac slapped the paper as it lay on the counter and finally ambled off. By the time Ahmed looked over the application Mac was long gone.

The date was off, yeah, but by over a decade. Mac had pencilled in 1985.

Ahmed nodded, as if that explained something.
